Carlisle, PA - Giant Food Stores today announced it will undergo the conversion process of thirteen Clemens Markets in a two-phased approach, with the first phase set to begin on Saturday, October 21, 2006. During the conversion process, all pharmacies, banks and liquor stores will remain open for customer convenience.

The following seven stores will be part of this first phase of the upgrading process. These stores will close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 and will re-open on Wednesday, October 25 at 8:00 a.m. under the Giant banner:

-611 Main Street, Harleysville
-Town Center, Route 202, New Britain
-1153 North 5th Street, Perkasie
-Route 611 and Stump Road, Plumsteadville
-Route 100 and Temple Road, North Coventry (Pottstown)
-Quakertown Plaza, 1465 - 7 West Broad Street, Quakertown
Beginning on Wednesday, October 25, the six remaining Clemens locations will close at 6:00 p.m. to begin converting to a Giant Food Store. The stores will re-open on Sunday, October 29 at 8:00 a.m. under the Giant banner. The following will be part of this second phase of the upgrade process:
-Whitemarsh Shopping Center, 10 Ridge Pike, Conshohocken
-Lionville Shopping Center, 168 Eagleview Boulevard, Exton
-Lincoln Shopping Center, Route #30 & Malin Street, Frazer
-Summit Square Center, Route #413 & Doublewoods Road, Langhorne
-Spring House Village Center, Bethlehem Pike, Spring House
-Marketplace at Westtown, 1502 West Chester Pike, West Chester
In addition to Giant's selection of corporate brand products, customers will also find more than 8,000 items throughout the store at lower prices, further illustrating Giant's strong tradition of offering superior value to the overall shopping experience. In early September, Giant entered into an agreement to acquire 14 Clemens Markets in suburban Philadelphia. Thirteen stores will be upgraded to Giant Food Stores, with the remaining store to be operated under the existing "foodsource" banner. This store is located at 663 Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr.
